Please
consider the many benefits of membership in the Cooperative Utilities
affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management (formerly the
National Association of Purchasing Management).
Just a
little about us…
In 1992
several cooperative materials management employees petitioned ISM
(then NAPM) to form an affiliate. They recognized that enhanced
purchasing impacted a cooperative's bottom line and felt that linking
with ISM would provide additional professional development, access to
resources and speakers, and networking opportunities not otherwise
found in their rural areas.
Since
then, our affiliate has gained national recognition for itself and its
members. It has repeatedly garnered awards for having the largest
percentage membership growth, exceeding C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing
Manager) certification goals, and being a "best in class"
affiliate. Its members have gained individual national recognition for
their sustained commitment to professional development. Our own Carl
Liles (Western Farmers Electric Coop ~ Anadarko, OK) and Dick Rich
(Seminole Electric Coop ~ Tampa, Florida) have served as ISM board
members. Dick recently served as ISM President.
Our
affiliate truly represents the cooperative principles of education,
training, information sharing, community concern and most importantly,
cooperation among cooperatives. It is critical that we now receive the
support of cooperatives nation-wide by allowing their materials
management employee(s) access to this effective affiliate. There is
no travel involved (annual business meeting optional) or
additional expenses of any kind and at only $135 per year, it's a
real bargain! ($35 dual membership if you already belong to another
affiliate). Click
here for some very good reasons why you should be a member!
We
sincerely hope that you will apply
for membership and let us be your affiliate. We look
forward to hearing from you!
