SOLON BENNETT AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

IN SUPPLY MANAGEMENT

ISM-CU honors each year Solon A. Bennett's many contributions to cooperative supply management via its Solon Bennett Award for Excellence in Supply Management. Solon Anthony Bennett (1922-2004) was a former Director of Purchases and Stores for the City of Austin, TX and an NRECA supply consultant from 1980-92. He was also a friend and mentor to many in cooperative supply management (Photo ~ Obituary (clipping) ~ Obituary (text))

The Solon Bennett Award is the highest honor that the Cooperative Utilities Affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM-CU) can bestow. This honor is given to a person chosen by the ISM-CU Solon Bennett Award Selection Committee from written nominations presented by any member in good standing of the ISM-CU affiliate. 

Nominations are due by November 30th of each year, must be in writing, and describe in detail the contributions and achievements that make the nominee a worthy candidate. The winner of the award should be a person who has made significant contributions to the ISM-CU affiliate, the membership of NRECA, and/or the NRECA Supply Management Conference. The winner is not required to be a member of ISM-CU, but must be nominated by an ISM-CU member. The award is not necessarily based only on contributions to the profession during the previous year, but rather on the contributions of the individual's career-to-date.
